Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder.

Eye-level view of a cozy workspace with art supplies and a notebook
The sunset, one of the many examples of true beauty.

It is the reflection of the objective and purest Truth. A Truth that echoes continuously in the hidden corner of our souls that perhaps we will never understand, in all of history. It is the reflection of the Creator, who made Truth, and made Beauty is ornate mirror. That is what we recognize to be beautiful, and what draws humanity in. When we see something that speaks out, calls to that shard of the soul, we pause and stare.

Yet why do we not hold the same standard of beauty? We agree there is a level of subjectivity to it. But why does it exist? If Beauty is the Echo of the Truth, then should not all of humanity be drawn to one thing, and not another? Should not the line be clearly there, the black and white?

And this is the other beauty: that of the distortion. God has created multiple kinds of beauty, all directing to Himself, yet we argue over which is the best. The truth is that there is no best, but that the mirror in us, hidden in that corner, is broken. Shattered. And dust has collected. And it obscures certain Beauties and certain Truths. So one of us is drawn to one thing, and one to another, and we know there is ugly and beautiful, but we argue over which is which, and few exist that we can agree upon. And so the ornate mirror has been corrupted, and we can do nothing much about it, except to try to clean the mirror in us with His Helping Hand.
